Pride

Dear Friends,
It was a joy to see some of your photographs from both the LGBTQ+ March and our Church stall at the Pride Festival.  Thanks to all of you who took part and who made time to visit our Church Stall.
A special thank you to Susan who organised and co-ordinated the Pride activities.  I am sure there are many stories to tell about Saturday and we look forward to hearing about the March and the Festival.
Thinking about Pride, I was reminded of a very inspiring poem by Thich Nhat Hanh:
“You are me and I am you. Isn’t it obvious that we ‘inter-are’? You cultivate the flower in yourself, so that I will be beautiful. I transform the garbage in myself, so that you will not have to suffer.
I support you; you support me. I am in this world to offer you peace; you are in this world to bring me joy.”
For me, this describes the deeper spiritual message of Pride.  A message that often gets lost in the commercialisation of the event.  It’s wonderful that we have made ourselves and our Church community visible at Pride.  Our Unitarian and Unitarian Universalist Community/Communities have something wonderful and life affirming to offer the world as listed in our first principle: ‘The inherent worth and dignity of every person.”
May all of us strive to ‘inter-be’.
Our next service is this coming Saturday at 11am and will be led by Susan and Lukaš.  The theme of the service is ‘Do For One, Like You’d Want To Do For All!’
The service will take place in the 1st Floor Meeting Room of Unitaria, Karlova 8, Prague 1.
In Faith and with love,
Mark
